You're My Number 1
Best Record, instead of one of the usual obscure Italo-disco finds in their vaults, opts for a worthy reissue of a Diggers classic, "You're My Number 1", a highlight of Dimitri from Paris' Nightdubbin' compilation.
The track "Radiance" is everything a boogie jam should be. It hooks you from the start with its super-funky bassline, tight double claps and compulsive cowbells, before Andrea Stone's dreamy falsetto vocals blast funk holes all over the intoxicating groove. The original is great, but the incredible full dub mix on the back is the one that blows everyone away, including the full intros and reprise (not available on the original and promo versions). Unsurprisingly, it was mixed by the legendary Morales and Muzibai (M & M Productions), but even without knowing all that, it's hard to sit still listening to this gem
